From the fall of humankind to now, God had a design to bring humanity back to himself so we might know him for eternity.
In Genesis 12, we begin to see the narrative of God’s chosen people. Through Abraham’s faith and devotion to God, he was chosen to be the father of a mighty people that would serve as a focal point of God’s hand in the story of humanity’s redemption. What’s also important to notice here is that God chooses to bless Abram so that from this blessing all people would be blessed. In this way, the promise God made Abraham becomes a promise to humanity. This illustrates the way God chooses to deal with people through covenant, a lasting promise.
