At Open Road Students, our goal is to help them find good, true, and beautiful answers to life’s biggest questions. The most foundational of all those questions is the question of who God is and what He’s like. Because what we believe about God
shapes what we believe about everything else. In this series, The God Revealed in Jesus, we will journey through the gospels, introducing our students to the God revealed in Jesus. We will help them understand that they can know who God is and what He’s like by looking at Jesus—God in the flesh. And that in Jesus, we see a God who’s not distant or detached, but close and personal. A God who always keeps His promises and will do whatever it takes to bring us home.
Mark designed his story about Jesus to show us who Jesus is based on all He said and did. Mark opens with the claim that Jesus is the Son of God, then spends the rest of the book setting Jesus’ actions and words in front of us and showing us how other people responded to Him. Mark invites us to wrestle with our response to Jesus. How will we respond to His proven authority? How will we respond to His radical humility? What will we make of the Creator who allowed Himself to be killed by His creation? Who is Jesus to you?
