To The Future This message focuses on forgetting the former things and singing a new song to the Lord—and on staying in tune all year long! The promises of God are sure, and there is a sure way to embrace them. Embracing the promises of God by faith is just the beginning; returning God’s promises to him in prayer puts that faith into action.
Beginning with the coming of the Messiah, Isaiah speaks to the promised deliverance of the Jewish people from their Babylonian captivity. The prophet instructed the people that by seeing the former things come to pass, which had been previously spoken by the Lord, their faith could be emboldened to also anticipate the unfulfilled word which would shortly come to pass.Similarly, believers today have the same promises of deliverance from this world of captivity because the Messiah has come—and will come again the second time to save us completely.
