In our songs and prayers, we regularly confess our faith in the "blessed hope" (Titus 2:13) of Christ's return. Yet, many of us still wonder what the promise of Christ's return in the future means for us now. This four-week series, The Blessed Hope, explores the ways in which the promise of Christ has the power to transform our day-to-day lives.

The reality of death confronts all of us in different ways. For the early Christians in Thessalonica, death brought not only grief but also confusion and fear. They expected Christ's return within their lifetimes, so they feared for the fate of loved ones dying. Paul writes to explain that the future of the faithful is secure, no matter when Christ arrives.
