This four-week series, The Creed, examines the Nicene Creed and its development from the Council fo Nicaea. Through examining the Jerusalem Council, we see the importance of leaders being led by the Spirit to help clarify issues. We also see the heresy that led to the need for the creed and the importance of affirming the divinity of Jesus and the Godhead.

Creeds provide a brief and clear statement of essential Christian teachings, summarizing key beliefs about God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and other fundamental aspects of the Christian faith. Creeds have played a crucial role in the history of Christianity, particularly in clarifying and defending Christian doctrine against heresy and diverse interpretations of scripture. While creeds are important for summarizing and articulating Christian beliefs, they are not intended to replace the Bible. They are seen as helpful summaries of biblical teachings.
