This Series, God of Second Chances, looks at stories in the Bible in which God gives people second chances, and it invites us to reflect on God's mercy, patience, and loving character.
God's mercy is always available, even when the sins we commit have such big consequences. Throughout 2 Samuel 11, we see David makins a series of choices with greater and greater implications. With each decision, we see his descent growing darker. At each turn, David can correct his course, but he fails to do so.
It's easy to forget the ways God has provided for us and begin to assert ourselves as deserving of something God has cautioned us against and even forbidden. We will all struggle to keep our hearts aligned with God's plan, but we know his love for us is deep and without reservation. When we realize we have chosen our desires over His, we must turn from that path and return to Him with confidence.
