It can be difficult for some to discuss their faith with others. Whether it is a family member, friend, or stranger, there is the fear of rejection that can be overwhelming and stifle one’s witness. Thankfully, Jesus promised us that we would not be alone when it came to sharing our faith. We also would not have to rely on our own strength.
"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 1:8 is a passage that compliments the Great Commission in Matthew 28. There are three things promised by Jesus in Acts 1:8 and the first is the gift of power. The Greek word for “power” in this verse is dynamis, indicating dynamic strength and ability. This empowerment is essential for believers to effectively witness and spread the message of Christ. Believers do not share their faith by relying on their own strength or wit but through the power of God moving through them.
